Summary of To Kill a Mocking Bird written by Harper Lee
The story begins with a young girl, Jean Louise Finch, who is usually called, by friends and family, Scout. She is the narrator of this book. She begins by telling the story of her family history, the first ancestor she mentions is Simon Finch, the first Finch to come to North America. Then Scout mentions her father, Atticus Finch, an extremely successful lawyer in the small town of Maycomb. Atticus, Scout and her brother Jem all live together in Maycomb, they have an African-American cook named Calpurnia. She has helped raise the two children after the loss of their mother when Scout was only two.
Then, that Summer a boy named Dill moved in next door with his aunt Rachel. He was around between Jem and Scout's age so they spent a lot of time playing and acting out scene's. After a while of acting and playing the children become bored, Dill suggests that they go "lure" out the mysterious neighbour, Arthur "Boo" Radley.
The Radley's live in an older looking house, very creepy in appearance. No one had seen Boo since he had gotten in some trouble with the police and his father banned him from exiting the house.
Eventually Dill dares Jem to go and touch the house, Jem runs as fast as he can and bolts back thinking nothing had happened, although Scout believes she had seen the shutter move as if someone were peeking out.
