COMMUNITY?

Liza Lugo states“when the seed of hatred and ethnocentrism are planted and fostered in society, it negatively affects every area of life.” This is from her article "Racism and Its Effects on Society," it is shown that ethnicity intolerance hurts society and causes unnecessary hate in the world. “the connotation for tolerance is that one must acknowledge the other, whereas acceptance encourages complete participation and fellowship.”This shows a fix for racism in society and shows where we stand currently, with no tolerance.

“ ‘Not only a Finch waiting on tables but one in the courthouse laying for niggers’ “ (Lee 117). This is said by an old white woman talking about a white man defending an African American. Atticus, the white man defending the African American, is a popular name around town but it is constantly talked negatively about because he does not believe in racism. “ ‘He’s nothin’ but a nigger-lover” (Lee 94). Racism brought down not only the ethnicity being made fun of, but the person who supports the ethnicity and defends it. (103)
