Smoking tobacco interferes with peoples lungs’. Smoking destroys the tiny hairs known as cilia that line your upper airways and protect against infections.

Because smoking destroys cilia, the dirt and pollution stays in your lungs, along with chemicals from smoking tobacco.

Smoking also damages your air sacs, and your alveoli, in the lungs, which makes it difficult for smokers to breathe.

As your alveoli is destroyed, smokers lungs transfer less and less oxygen to their bloodstream, causing them to feel out of breath.
