KQ: How do we justify our appreciation of art ?

What do we mean by art?

  • the expression or application of human creative skill and imagination, typically in a visual form, producing works to be appreciated primarily for their beauty or emotional power.

Knowledge Framework

  • established likes/dislikes applicable to how we use our WOKs.
  • utilizes shared and personal knowledge

Which WOKS?

  • sense perception
  • memory
  • emotion

  • we use sense perception to create a basic understanding of the experience for understanding of context

  • my appreciation for art is based off of knowledge that I relate to the knowledge framework I have constructed as it adheres to shared knowledge

So is it all emotion?

How do we justify?

  • appreciation of the arts is unique to the individual based on WOKs to create context.
  • must adhere to ethical code?
  • reliant on emotion as the main WOK, but utilizes a network for understanding
  • must adhere to general knowledge framework
  • may succumb to a paradigm shift depending upon....
  • final judgment is subjected to shared knowledge, but personal knowledge? or subject to personal knowledge, but shared knowledge must be acknowledged?
