WHO WERE THE TOLTECS?

  • They lived from 900 A.D. to 1200 A.D.
  • They lived in Mexico.
  • They were heavily influenced by realign.

Art

The toltecs where really good at art. They made a lot of murals, one of the murals was of a soldier after he lost a battle he was piercing his cheek with a spear.

WHAT THEY DID FOR FUN

  • They played the ball game tlatchli.
  • The field consists of a T-shaped patio with stone markers.
  • The markers were like goals. The markers had to be touched by a ball that the player had to hit it with their hip.
  • The would sacrifice the losing team.

FOOD

  • They were hunters and gatherers.
  • They ate meat and root vegetables.
  • They also ate dogs, rabbits, cactus, beans and squash.

CLIMATE/GEOGRAPHY

  • They lived in mid Mexico.
  • The climate ranged from hot and humid to desert like.
  • Very little rain falls.

HOW THEY FELL

  • They were invaded from the north by the nomadic tribes.
  • They were attacked by the Chitimecs.

MIXCOATL

  • Mixcoatl was the Toltecs legendary ruler.
  • He had a son named Toliptzín.

QUETZALCOATL

  • It was a feathered serpent god.
  • Quetzalcoatl was a snake and bird mixed.
  • There was a famous temple built for him.

So as you can see the Toltecs were very warlike and artistic.
