WEATHER CONDITIONS DURING THE STORM

  • You can expect very strong winds
  • You can also expect lightning

CAUSES

  • For it to occur it usually is warm and humid outside.

LOCATION AND TIMING

  • Tornadoes happen a lot in Oklahoma, Texas, and Kansas.
  • They happen here because of its climate.
  • The time that tornadoes are most likely to occur is March through May or also called "tornado season"
  • This happens because there are different types of temperatures and the wind mixes them all together.

SAFETY PRECAUTIONS

  • The average amount of money we spend per year to fix damage is $1,086,575,000
  • 4,715 people are killed per year by tornadoes.
  • Take cover in the basement or cellar
  • Stay away from windows

  • Watch- Possible tornado. Be alert
  • Warning- Sighted tornado, get to safety.
  • Fujita tornado scale
  • F0- light damage
  • F1- moderate damage
  • F2- considerable damage, etc.

  • March 18, 1925
  • It went through Missouri, Illinois, and Indiana.
  • Killed 695, injured 2,027
  • Rated F5 on the Fujita scale.
  • Deadliest recorded tornado in U.S history.
  • $1.4 million dollars worth of damage
