Tornadoes are caused by a cold front and a warm front pass and since the molecule want to spin each other, the front twirl and collect cloud and touchi the ground.
They tend to happen in the Great Plains in the US because, the dry cold air from the north mixes with the warm tropical air from the south that collects in the plains.
