THE LOUISIANA PURCHASE
This purchase gave the settlers a opportunity to force the native Americans out west to the land bought in the Louisiana purchase.
IN 1828, GOLD WAS DISCOVERED ON CHEROKEE LAND
IN 1830, ANDREW JACKSON SIGNED THE INDIAN REMOVAL ACT
In theory, this sounded like a good idea, but the native Americans were pretty much forced into signing unfair treaties.
THE 10 YEAR WAR
As a result of the stubbornness of the Seminole tribe, they ended up fighting a 10 year war against the U.S. army, causing many Seminole deaths.

The Cherokee case went all the way up to the Supreme Court and eventually won, but by that time it didn't matter because the treaty of New Echota had already been established.
