  • The trail of tears was caused by the indian removal act of 1830
  • In 1838-1839 the Cherokee nation was forced to give up their land east of t
  • Over 4,000 out of 15,000 Cherokee Indians died due to disease and hunger 
  • The Cherokee people called the journey the Trail of tears cause of its deva

They mainly traveled by horse,foot,wagon and steamboat.

In the end over 25 million acres was now open for the government to take over.

There is now many of monuments dedicated to the Trail of tears all over the trail that was taken.
