Then the water goes into the stem

Water travels through the xylem which are narrow tubes in the plant

  • Water exits the stomates
  • Stomates stay defended by guard cells

Water exits the plant as water vapor

Transpiration is the evaporation part of the water cycle

TRANSPIRATION IS IMPORTANT

  • It’s 10% of the water in the atmosphere
  • It’s needed for germination
