  • The most means of transport especially for short distances are roads.
  • The roads can be metalled and unmetalled.

  • Metalled roads are harder than the unmetalled roads.
  • Metalled roads are made of concrete.
  • These roads are very smooth to drive.
  • These roads don't contain any rocks they are only made of concrete.
  • Ex - Manali -leh highway in Himachal

UNMETALLED ROADS

  • Unmetalled roads are not hard as the metalled road.
  • They are made of sand, mud and rocks.
  • These roads can be slippery.

  • Roads built underground are called subways or under paths.

FLYOVERS

  • Flyovers are the roads which are built above the roads.
  • Flyovers are built raised over structure.
  • Flyovers are built to avoid traffic of vehicles.

  • Railways carry heavy goods and people over long distances quickly and cheaply.
  • Trains are very useful in traveling.
  • Railway network is well develop over the plain areas.
  • Advanced technological skills have enabled laying of railway lines in the difficult mountain terrains.
  • Railway network is largest in Asia.
