eAPIS

CBP's Electronic Advance Passenger Information System

Prior to crossing the U.S. border, in either direction, the pilot in command is required to use eAPIS to provide crew, passenger, aircraft, and trip information

It is important that the traveler matches the travel document
(passport, alien registration number, etc.), and the travel document matches the data input in the Electronic Advance Passenger Information System (eAPIS) manifest before submitting the eAPIS manifest to CBP.

If a traveler has more than one passport, be sure the passport being carried matches the travel document data in the
eAPIS manifest. If the traveler is a U.S. citizen, U.S. passport must be used. And don’t forget to check the expiration date.

After an eAPIS manifest has been submitted, a confirmation email receipt (“Notification of Receipt of Transmission”) from APISConfirmNoReply@dhs.gov is sent to the submitter’s email address on file. When you receive your confirmation receipt email, you must follow any and all instructions contained therein. If the email confirmation receipt is not received, contact the CBP port associated with your flight..
General aviation aircraft may depart from any U.S. port or place.

Once the eAPIS manifest has been processed, the receipt message will instruct you to proceed with the departure flight. Unless CBP or another DHS agency contacts you, you are cleared to go!

eAPIS must be filed no less than one hour before departing or arriving in the U.S., but you can file as far in advance as desired

Inward Declaration Form

The Bahamas Customs Department requires declaration forms

There are two types of inward declaration forms

All types of operations can use a C7 General Declaration form. This includes both private, business, and for hire use.

The Bahamas Customs Department also accepts Form C7A

The C7A combines an inward declaration and a cruising permit

A Cruising Permit is required for flying throughout the islands.

Complete at least four Inward Declaration forms

If a C7A is used, you will keep one stamped copy with you for traveling to other islands to show Customs at other airports.

ICAO FLIGHT PLANS

The International Civil Aviation Organization is responsible for the standardization and implementation of principles and procedures of international aviation

An ICAO flight plan is required for a flight in international airspace.

There are many similarities between ICAO and FAA flight plans. Items like aircraft ID, aircraft type, fuel endurance, and souls on board are found on both.

Untitled Slide

ICAO Flight Plans have many of the same flight category options such as VFR, IFR, DVFR, COMPOSITE, and DC SFRA
