  • Sometimes people don't recognize the signs of a mental disorder.
  • The first step toward recovery is recognizing the need for help.
  • Try to share your problems with someone you trust.

TYPES OF MENTAL PROFSSIONALS

  • Psychiatrists- A physician who can diagnose and treat medical disorders.
  • Neurologist- A physician who treats physical disorders of the nervous system.
  • Clinical psychologist- Trained to recognize and treat behavior that is not normal.
  • Psychiatric social worker- Helps people with mental disorders and their families to accept and adjust to the disorder.
  • Mental health counselor

KINDS OF TREATMENT

  • Drug therapy
  • Hospitalization
  • Psychotherapy: Insight therapy, cognitive and behavior therapy, and group therapy.
  • Exposure therapy as stated by samhsa.gov

Your treatment team may include: family, primary care doctor, nurse practitioner, physician assistant, psychiatrist, psychotherapist, pharmacist, and social worker. As stated by the Mayo Clinic.
