MONKEY PUZZLE TREE (ARAUCARIA)

• The most interesting plant during the Triassic era was the araucaria or the monkey tree.
• This tree in particular was also called a living fossil because of its age!

FABROSAURUS

• The most interesting animal during the Triassic era was the Fabrosaurus.
• This animal is a plant eating dinosaur that lived in Africa during the Triassic period.Researchers say that it is hard to learn much about this dinosaur because only a little portion of its jaw has been found.

Geologic/Tectonic events
At the start of of the Triassic, all of Earth's land masses had collided into Pangea.There was a giant ocean called Panthalassa that surrounded Pangea and areas around the coast were overtaken by seasonal monsoons.But, the ocean-circulation patterns kept the isolated and vast interior warm and dry.This time period also gave a rise to new creatures, including rodent-size mammals and the first dinosaurs.

But as soon the supercontinent formed, it started to come undone.By the end of the period 201 million years ago, tectonic forces had slowly begun to spilt the supercontinent into 2: Laurasia in the north and Gondwana in the south.

• The cause of the Triassic extinction is when life outside of the oceans began to diversify.
