TRIDUUM

  • There are 3 days in Triduum
  • These 3 days are Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday
  • These are the days before the holy and happy season of Easter

HOLY THURSDAY

  • Holy Thursday is the first day of Triduum.
  • During the mass of this day, there is Washing of the Feet
  • This is where a priest or deacon washes the feet of another person
  • This shows the love of Jesus for his people and and for others

GOOD FRIDAY

  • On this day we recall Jesus' suffering and death
  • This is often celebrated around 3:00 pm
  • We hear the Passion of Christ read from the Gospels
  • We also show reverence to the cross, or upon it hung the savior of the world

HOLY SATURDAY

  • During this time, we spend time praying and thinking
  • We pray especially for those who will celebrate the Easter sacraments
  • On Holy Saturday evening we gather for the Easter vigil
  • This is where everyone stands still and pray silently

FIRE OF THE EASTER VIGIL

  • Fire always was a symbol of the presence of God
  • The priest marks the paschal candle by marking the year on it
  • The fire represents the fire of the burning bush
  • The paschal candle reminds us of the illar of fire

EXSULTET

  • The Exsultet is the Easter proclamation
  • The deacon of a parish will bring in the prayer
  • To exult means to rejoice with great joy and triumph
  • The Exsultet is proclamation of our easter faith

WHAT YOU WILL HEAR

  • "This is our Passover feast"
  • "This is the the night where first you saved our fathers"
  • "This is the night where Jesus Christ broke the chains of death"
  • "He rose to triumph from the grave"

  • Is is the Sunday in which Christ has rissen from the dead
  • We rejoice this day every year
  • We say many prayers and go to mass
