PRESENTATION OUTLINE

FROM CHAOS TO ORDER

January 2014

The time had come to do something about the chaos and mess of the front garden. I always cringed every time I went out the front and saw the sad site and felt guilty for its neglect.
It was time to act!

I had leave from Dec 20th to Jan 13th so it was the perfect time to tackle it. It also coincided with having to pull down mums pergola so a decent sized skip was in order. I worked away in the heat -high 30's and eventually a couple of 43 degree days!!! Character building!!

I tackled it head on and moved the rubbish and rocks and about 20 years of gum pods to one end. Having to dig out rocks from previous attempts wasn't much fun either. Roger helped me a couple of mornings but it was mostly by myself. Once we got the skip Todd helped me cart the rubbish to it and then raked over the dirt into some sort of rounded level.

Too bad that by now it was staying in the low 40's off I went and ordered 1.25 tonnes of river pebbles to cover the dirt. I had started to lay some Los pavers. But didn't like the look so up they came again.

I just kept going in the heat even though every muscle ached. The last quarter tonne Roger came on the weekend and helped me spread.

It started to look something and I would wake each morning dying to get at it again. I had ordered a pile of plants from interstate and happily got stuck into planting them. There was no stopping me. Off to get some pots and soil from Bunnings ( now my favourite store hee hee ). Even stooped to nicking some pots from the neighbours hard refuge throw out! Hey I'm not proud.

It has continued to bloom. My biggest desire is to be able to pick a bunch of fragrant Roses and have them in a glass bowl as buds and watch them open to a magnificent display and smell.

To that end I have been collecting quite a few. Some given as presents - from Celia and Marion. The rest purchased myself from Misty Downs in Victoria and Newman's Nursery.

I have also planted large groups of bulbs. A few have started to bloom. Cant wait for Spring.

Also have quite a few solar lights which make it like Fairy Land at night. It is an on going task of interest to see my hard work flourish....

This is a pictorial diary of its progress.
