TROPICAL RAINFOREST

  • This is a forest of tall trees in a region of year-round warmth.
  • An average of 50 to 260 inches (125 to 660 cm.) of rain falls yearly.
  • It can be found in Central America in the the Amazon river basin.
  • It's also located in Central Africa - Zaire basin.

PLANTS & ANIMALS

  • Common animals found are mammals and birds,reptiles.
  • Insects-brightly colored butterflies, mosquitoes,and huge colonies of ants
  • Over 2,500 species of vines grow in the rainforest.
  • a shrub layer receives about 3 % of the light.
  • The air beneath the lower canopy is almost always humid.

CLIMATE

  • Rain forests belong to the tropical wet climate group.
  • In a rain forest rarely gets higher than 93 °F or drops below 68 °F
  • rainfall is often more than 100 inches a year.

WHY THIS BIOME IS UNIQUE

  • Its unique because of its diversity in flora and fauna.
  • They also receive at least 80 inches of rain per year.
