PRESENTATION OUTLINE

TROPISM

  • Their are 4 types-
  • Phototropism
  • Geotropism
  • Gravitropism
  • Thigmotropism

PHOTOTROPISM

  • When the plant responds to light
  • or grows towards the sun.

GEOTROPISM

  • When the roots of a plant grow downward
  • responding to gravity

GRAVITROPISM

  • When gravity pulls plants down to the
  • center of the earth.
  • Responding to gravity

THIGMOTROPISM

  • When the leaves or vines rap around
  • the plant or tree.

EROSION

  • wind erosion
  • glacier erosion
  • raindrop erosion
  • mass movement

wind erosion

  • The process of wind wearing away
  • The earths surface.

GLACIER EROSION

  • The process by which ice washes away
  • the top layer of the earths surface.

RAINDROP EROSION

  • When a raindrop hits the ground
  • and spreads out the soil.

MASS MOVEMENT

  • Movement of surface material
  • caused by gravity.

WEATHERING VS EROSION

  • Erosion-the movement of loosened or weathered
  • material from one place to another.
  • Weathering-the mechanical and chemical breakdown of
  • Rocks by the action of rain, snow, etc...

CHEMICAL WEATHERING

  • Changes the composition of rocks,
  • Often Transforming them when water
  • Interacts with minerals causing a chemical
  • Reaction

PHYSICAL

  • The breakdown of rocks and soils through direct contact
  • With heat, water, ice and pressure.
