SPELLING RULES

-ED/ING ENDINGS, Y AT THE END OF WORDS, I BEFORE E, SUFFIX , PREFIX

Ed/Ing endings.

Rule:if the word ends in e, we drop the e when adding Ing

Short verbs: consonant-vowel-consonant : doble the last consonant.
Endings in Y or W we do not double them
Long verbs: seres on the last syllable + ends in consonant vowel consonant we double the last consonant

Die-lie: ie changes to ying.


Example:

Y at the end of words.

Rule: if the verb ends in consonant consonant we drop the Y and add -íes or -ied
If the verb ends in consonant vowel we keep the y and add ed or s


Example:

I before E

Rule: I before E except after C

Example:

Suffix -full.

Rule: when we word build with the suffix -full we spell it with one l.

Example:

Prefix all-.

Rule: when we use the prefix all- to word build we spell it with one l.
