TUNDRA CONDITIONS

  • High latitude climate.
  • Cold weather & dark winters.
  • Monthly temperatures average below freezing.
  • Soil is thinner than in the subarctic.
  • Snow and ice is often 2 miles thick.

TUNDRA MAP

  • Closer to the polar regions.
  • Far north of the northern hemisphere.
  • Parts of Alaska are tundra.

PRECIPITATION

  • Precipitation is meager.
  • In most places it'll rain in the summer.
  • But in Norway it'll be in February or March.
  • Average yearly rainfall is 15-25 cm.

TEMPERATURE

  • Average winter temperature is -34° C (-30° F)
  • Average summer temperature is 3-12° C (37-54° F)

  • Bearberry
  • Arctic Moss
  • Caribou Moss
  • Diamond Leaf Willow
  • Labrador Tea

  • Arctic Fox
