ANIMAL DESCRPTION

  • A turkey will rip a ducks neck off for no reason
  • Adult turkeys have around 5,000 to 6,000 feathers on their body
  • Benjamin Franklin wanted to make the turkey the national bird of the United States
  • The turkeys we eat are not the same kind of turkeys we see in photos

TURKEY HABITAT

  • Turkeys spend the night on branches in trees
  • Wild turkeys live year-round in open forests with interspersed clearings
  • turkeys live in all of the states in America except Alaska
  • turkeys live in parts of Mexico, and parts of southern Alberta, Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan, Canada.

TURKEY ADAPTATIONS

  • Turkeys have feathers that act like a coat to protect it in winter
  • Turkeys have enhanced eyesight cause by the growth of a one around the eye. This helps the turkeys spot predators
  • Turkeys are omnivorous. This helps because turkeys don't have to rely on one food source
  • Turkeys can smell extremely well. This helps them locate food from a distance

TURKEYS ARE A VERY POPULAR BIRD

  • Turkeys can live almost anywhere
  • Turkeys have lots of feathers
