There is a boy named Frankie Joe. He lives in Laredo, Texas with his mom, but she gets arrested so he has to move to Illinois with his dad he never met. He comes to pick him up and his adventure begins.

Frankie Joe arrives in Clearview, Illinois and meets his four half brothers and step-mom for the first time. On his first day of school he is retained in 5th grade.

Frankie Joe goes in the after school program called The Great Escape, where he does homework everyday and meets a girl named Mandy. After he leaves school he meets this nice and strange lady named Miss Peachcott. She tells Frankie Joe about his mother when she was his age.

Lizzie talks to Freaky Fast Frankie Joe and Mandy about why they call him the odd ball. Frankie Joe is also the tie breaker in the family but he doesn't like it, and he really misses home.

He finds that Texas is WAY different than Clearview. Frankie Joe hates Clearview and plans his escape back home to Laredo.

Frankie Joe crawls out of bed in the middle of the night and goes to the shed to get a tarp for his escape. Matt shows up confronting Frankie Joe and asks if he's planning on stealing the tarp. Miss Peachcott is trusting Frankie Joe to deliver Nova bags to customers for some money. Frankie Joe accepts because he needs the money for his escape back to Laredo.

Frankie Joe goes to Mr. Puffin's farm and learns that roots rot, making fertilizer for the next crop. Then he goes home and the house was all fired up because it's going to snow soon. At that, Frankie Joe got new customers.

Frankie Joe's Mom sends him letters. One day, he tries to sneak past the Quilt Circle since he has his delivery service to deal with, but they catch him and say the winning raffle ticket is 7-7-7 and he had that exact number. They were all excited when he got it.
