Types of Claims

Claims of Fact:
Assert that something is or is not true.
Claims are supported by research or statistics.

Claims of value:
Argues that something is good or bad, right or wrong, desirable or undesirable. May be personal opinion or more objective criteria.

Claims of policy:
When you propose a change.
Begins with a definition of the problem (claim of fact), explains the problem (claim of value), and explains the change that needs to happen (claim of policy).
