1. Identify Stakeholders
Stakeholders: All people and/or organizations impacted by the project
We must identify as well their interests, involvement, and impact on project success
Stakeholder Analysis
There are multiple classification models available:
- Power/Interest Grid
- Power/Influence Grid
- Influence/Impact Grid
-Salience Model (Power/Urgency/Legitimacy)

2. Plan Communications
Determining the project stakeholder information needs and defining a communications approach
Effective Communication means that the information is provided in the Right Format, at the Right Time, and with the Right Impact
Communication Channels
The total number of communications channels needed for n number fo stakeholders is
N = n (n-1)/2
Communication Methods:
- Interactive: multidirectional between two or more
- Push: like broadcasting
- Pull: like shared database
3. Distribute Information
Making relevant information available
Outputs may include:
- Stakeholder Notifications
- Project Reports
- Project Presentations
- Feedback from Stakeholders
- Lessons Learned Documentation
4. Manage Stakeholder Expectations
This process requires you communicate and work with your stakeholders to meet their needs and address any issues as they occur
5. Report Performance
Collecting and Distributing performance information
Status reports, progress measurements, and forecasts
Common performance report formats are include Bar Charts, S-Curves, Histograms, and Tables
