Myths about Classroom Technology
Myth 1: Social Limitations
First of all some people say that students who use technology in the class will be less socialized, and they won’t be able to interact with other kids. However this is wrong because, some technology is actually meant to help the communication skills of many students. And at the end of the day it’s helping them have a better future.
Myth 2: Distractions
Parents, teachers, and many young adults say that technology is a distraction for many kids. This is true, but the problem isn’t the technology, the problems are the things that are around them. Anything can be a distraction for kids. And technology doesn’t make a classroom more distracting than it already is.
Myht 3: Technology can solve all of teachers/students problems
Technology is just a tool, and it doesn’t actually solve all of the problems that we face in our everyday lives. While technology can be both beneficial to students and teachers, it would be unrealistic to say that it’s an independent solution to all of our problems.
Myht 4: Technology is dangerous for students
Technology can be used in constructive and deconstuctive ways. so in reality, the technology in general isn’t dangerous, but the way some kids use it is.
Myth 5: Technology “thinks” for students. This makes leaning easier in a way, because there’s millions of apps. All these tools provide good information, but they do not prevent students from learning.
Myths 6: Technology will take over teachers and classroom. Most likely this will never happen, because technology will never have as much capacity to do that. Teachers play an important role in the lives of students, and no matter what happens, students will always look up to them.
