PRESENTATION OUTLINE

TRANSVERSAL

A line that passes through two lines in the same plane at two distinct points.

ALTERNATE INTERIOR ANGLES

OPPOSITE OF TRANSVERSAL, BUT ITS THE INSIDE 2 LINES.

SAME-sIDE INTERIOR ANGLES

ON ONE SIDE THE ANGLES ARE TRaNSVERSAL, BUT THE OTHER IS AN INTERIOR ANGLE.

CORRESPONDING ANGLES

WHEN 2 LINES ARE CROSSED BY ANOTHER LINE, THE ANGLES IN MATCHING CORNERS ARE CORRESPONDING ANGLES.

ALTERNATE EXTERIOR ANGLES

2 PARALLEL LINES ARE CUT BY TRANSVERAL, THE 2 ANGLeS ARE OPPOSITE & THE ANGKES ARE CONGRUENT IN EACH.

SAME-SIDE EXTERIOR ANGLES

formed when one side is extended beyond its adjacent sides.

PARALLELOGRAM

A FOUR-SIDED RECTANGULAR FIGURE WITH OPPOSITE PARALLEL SIDES.

RHOMBUS

  • Opposite equal acute angles, opposite equal obtuse angles, and four equal sides.
  • Real world example: baseball diamond.

RECTANGLE

  • Four straight sides and four right angles, one with unequal adjacent sides.
  • Real world example: a rectangle trampoline.

SQUARE

  • A plane figure with 4 equal straight sides & 4 right angles.
  • Real world example: dinner table.

KITE

  • 4 sides can be grouped up into 2 pairs of equal length sides.
  • Real world example: a kite!

TRAPEZOID

  • A quadrilateral with only one pair of parallel sides
  • Real world example: popcorn cup.

CONSECUTIVE ANGLES

ANGLES THAT OCCUR ONE AFTER THE OTHER.
