MIDSEGMENT

  • A midsegment is the segment that joins the midpoints and sides of the shape
  • A real life example of this is attaching a fulcrum to the middle of a board to create a seesaw

CONCURRENT

  • A line is concurrent if there is three or more of them and if they meet at one point
  • We see this in real life at a four way intersection.

CIRCUMCENTER OF A TRIANGLE

  • The point of currency of the perpendicular bisectors of the sides of the shape
  • A real life example would be a mobile in a crib, or something that hangs from the ceiling

MEDIAN OF A TRIANGLE

  • A segment that has its end points as a vertex of a triangle and it's midpoint on the opposite side
  • An example of this in reality would be a triangular shaped median on the side of the road

CENTROID

  • Point of intersection of the medians of a triangle
  • We see this in reality with a wind turbine's center

ALTITUDE OF A TRIANGLE

  • Perpendicular segment from vertex to line containing the side opposite that vertex

ORTHOCENTER OF A TRIANGLE

  • Point of intersection of lines containing altitude of a triangle
