Republicanism
Gov. marked by separation of powers. Represents the people through elected officials
Liberalism
ideology favoring individual political and economic freedom
coup d'ėtat
sudden violent overthrow of government. "a blow against the state"
Nationalism
Pride and devotion to one's nation
Constitutionalism
political theory calling of gov. according to fundamental law and principles.
Concession
A special economic privilege granted to a foreign power
Capital
wealth in the form of money or of resources that are used to produce other goods
Capitalism
economic system in which all resources are privately owned and markets determine how those resources are distributed
Socialism
economic system in which the gov. owns the resources and distributes them in a way that meets social needs
Imperialism
policy in which state takes political and economic control of areas beyond its borders.
Industrial Revolution
They shifted from being farmers to having first agricultural revolution. this changed how work was done. Instead of having people do things, they had machines to do stuff for them. This was a big help for them because machines did the work much more quickly than humans or animals.
