Section 1: Rationale

  • like an essay
  • use resources to show your knowledge of your discipline
  • an argument; audience, other English teachers
  • make the case for your approach to your content
  • make the case for the FIT between this content, this approach and YOUR STUDENTS
  • explain what special considerations planning your students (specifically) required

See the Unit Rubricfor details

Section 2: Unit FA and Goals

  • list your focus areas and related EQ?
  • list your unit goals (in observable, measurable form)
  • list KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, and DISPOSITIONS to be achieved in this unit

This is harder than it sounds. You will continually be revising these goals.

Two ways to help with goals: 1) steal other people's goals language
2) choose your summative assessments and ask yourself, what do they reveal?
