SAN ANTONIO TEXAS ALAMO

  • The Battle of the Alamo. In December 1835, in the early stages of Texas' war for independence from Mexico. A group of Texan volunteers led by George Collinsworth and Benjamin Milam overwhelmed the Mexican garrison at the Alamo and captured the fort, seizing control of San Antonio.”

ARIZONA GRAND CANYON

  • The Grand Canyon is found in the US state of Arizona. Many people consider it to be one of the seven wonders of the natural world. At its widest point the Grand Canyon stretches 18 miles (29 kilometres) across.

NEW YORK STATUE OF LIBERTY

  • The Statue of Liberty celebrates her birthday on October 28th in honor of the day she was officially accepted by the president of the United States in 1886. Visitors must climb 354 stairs to reach the Statue of Liberty's crown. The full name is Liberty Enlightening the world.

FIVE GEOGRAPHICAL FEATURES OF THE USA

ROCKY MOUNTAIN

  • The Rocky Mountains are notable for containing the highest peaks in central North America. The range's highest peak is Mount Elbert located in Colorado at 14,440 feet above sea level. Mount Robson in British Columbia, at 12,972 feet, is the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies.Rocky Mountain , a vast system extending over three thousand miles from northern Mexico to Northwest Alaska, forms the western continental divide. The system varies from 70 to 400 miles wide and from 5,000 to 14,433 feet high.

Mississippi River in located in the USA. The river travels to the Gulf of Mexico. The source is lake Itasca in Northern Minnesota. The name Mississippi comes from the Anishinaabe people who called the river 'Misi-ziibi' which means great river. The Mississippi River is the second-longest river in the US (2,202 mi).

CALIFORNIA DEATH VALLEY

  • The ground gets even hotter than the air.death valley is considered one of the hottest spots in the USA . Death Valley saw over 1 million visitors in 2014. The average rainfall a year is 2.36 inches. Death Valley was named by California gold seekers.

GREAT LAKES

  • The Great Lakes are Superior, Huron, Michigan, Ontario and Erie. Made up the largest body of fresh water on Earth. Accounting for one-fifth of the freshwater surface on the planet at 6 quadrillion gallons. The Great Lakes are part of the St. Lawrence Seaway shipping route, allowing boats to travel from the Great lakes to the Atlantic Ocean. The Great Lakes border 7 U.S. states and the Canadian province of Ontario.

GREAT PLAINS

  • Despite its vast size and the fact that the region covers portions of at least nine different states and two countries. The Great Plains share a more or less similar ecology and climate. The flat landscape, hot summers and fertile prairie grasslands. Make the region ideal for large-scale farming and ranching. The Great Plains stretch from Canada down to Mexico, cutting through the central part of the United States, bounded by the Rocky Mountains to the west and the Missouri River to the east.
