UNITY

UNITY THROUGH PROXIMITY

The artwork displays unity through proximity because all of the characters are close together or touching. This artwork shows Jesus and the disciples sharing a last dinner TOGETHER, which is why they are close together in the painting.

UNITY BY REPETITION

The artwork shows unity by repetition because the lines of the trees shows that they are united. If the trees were just scattered throughout, then the trees would not display unity.

UNITY BY CONTINUATION

In Starry Night, Van Gogh displays unity by continuation by having the wind displayed with color and wavy lines. If he had left it as singular swirls that didn't cross the artwork, it wouldn't be united. But because he continues it through the artwork it is united.

UNITY WITH VARIETY

The artwork shows unity with variety because it is the same face while having a variety of colors. With these colors it also adds a separate mood with each set of colors.

INTELLECTUAL UNITY

The artwork displays intellectual unity because although the brain and undiscovered land don't have much in common, we know that to learn new things we must explore. The artist may have been referencing to the new discoveries we are making with the brain and comparing them to exploring new land.
