ABRAHAM TESTED (GENESIS 22)

• God commanded Abraham to set out in the morning and sacrifice his son.
• Without question, he went to the mountain to sacrifice his son but was stopped by God at the last second.

ABRAHAM

• Placed all his trust in God
• Willing to do anything for God
• Considered a very good leader
• Able to be trusted by anyone

TRUST

• Abraham was willing to go as far as sacrificing his son for God, but God stopped him.
• This shows that Abraham places ultimate trust in God.
• Abraham was very easily trusted and considered “God’s friend”

LEADER

• Abraham takes the commands of God and does his will.
• He informs the people and leads them.

MOM

• She is willing to do anything for me and vise versa.
• Guides me and teaches me (leader)
• Trust each other very much

WILLINGNESS

• My mom has always put me before herself and done everything she can to make me happy.
• When she was in college, she took care of my family, a job, and night classes.

TRUST/LEADER

• My entire life, I have always been able to confide in my mom.
• She has always trusted me and I have always trusted her, which built a very strong relationship.
• She also taught me important values and what my morals should be.

RELATIONS

• Just as Abraham and God have a strong, trusting relationship, so do my mother and I. The same trust can be seen throughout both relationships.
• Also, my mom and Abraham are both leaders. As my mom lead me through life, Abraham lead his people.
• Abraham was willing to do anything for God just as my mom is for me. She was always willing to do whatever it takes to give me a good life.

PRAYER

• Almighty God, You reach into the darkness with hope, truth and light. Stretch out your strong hand in this situation, hold and rescue those who have suffered. Let your almighty love move mountains, cross seas and breathe life into the darkest places. Light that redeems. Light that restores. Light that heals. Light that protects. Light that saves. There is nothing higher, stronger or greater than your love. We trust in you.
