Emily Elizabeth Dickinson was born on December 10, 1830, in Amherst, Massachusetts. She was born into a wealthy and Christian family. Her dad her dad was the senator of Massachusetts. She began writing around her teen age years but would become more invested in writing later in her 20s. Emily attended Amherst Academy school for girls, and later would got to college for botany, natural history, and astronomy at Mount Holyoke College. While she was alive only about 8 of her 800+ poems were ever published. Emily never married, or had children. she also did not have many friends, as she preferred to stay at home, then go out and be with people. Sadly, at the age of 55, Emily passed due to a stroke on May 15, 1886.
