INTERPRETATION

  • Preception refers to a certain set of processes we use to make
  • Sense of different stimuli we are faced with each day.
  • Perception lets us handle the world by allowing us to get information
  • And make educated decisions on how to react to them.

EXAMPLE OF PERCEPTION

  • If you observe a cloud in the sky, different people will see different images.
  • Within each person you will receive a different result.
  • Peoples background and childhood will influence what type of images they will see.

SUBJECTIVE INTERPRETATION

  • A persons values, experiences, childhood, self-concept, and
  • Background are all major influences on how a person interprets stimuli.
  • Some religions believe in only one God and some religions believe in many God's.
  • If you believe you are smart and a teacher calls on you then you would think that they are
  • Showing you off, but if you believe that you aren't smart then you may think they are picking on you.

INTERPRETATION

  • Interpretation is subjective which means that different people
  • Come to different conclusions about the same exact stimuli.
  • Subjective interpretation of stimuli is affected by values, needs, expectations, and other factors.
