Scripture quotation:
Galatians 5:13- You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.

From the Rurum Novarum: The oppressed workers, above all, ought to be liberated from the savagery of greedy men, who inordinately use human beings as things for gain. Assuredly, neither justice nor humanity can countenance the exaction of so much work that the spirit is dulled from excessive toil and that along with it the body sinks crushed from exhaustion. The working energy of a man, like his entire nature, is circumscribed by definite limits beyond which it cannot go.

Pope Leo XIII, 1891

How does this persons life and commitment to justice demonstrate Gods plan for human beings to be in a just and loving relationship with him and in just and loving relationships with one another?
-Chavez showed tremendous dedication towards seeking justice for farm workers that he became a role model to many people. He showed the world that he could make a change while still being nonviolent. By setting this example he shows that you can be loving in relationships even if it is unjust.

How does this person's cause correspond to the foundational principles for a just society as taught in God's law and reinforced by the prophets of the Old Testament?
-It corresponds because one of the main things Chavez fought for was honesty in business. At an early age he experienced injustice and dishonesty in business when his fathers farm was taken.
-Also, Chavez showed special concern for the poor and vulnerable by planning nonviolent protests to help bring justice to the poor farm workers.

How does this person's life demonstrate that God's justice reflects God's love and mercy?
-Cesar Chavez reflected Gods mercy by showing it to those not as privileged. He spent his life working to make conditions better for others, especially those that were impoverished.

How did this person's action in the world demonstrate that the Church is a sign and instrument of communion with God and the unity of the whole human race?
-Cesar Chavez demonstrated the church's social teaching in the public and political square to effectively share his message. By working for the impoverished, Chavez was able to bring together the farming community to work towards justice.

What can you do to help continue the hero's work in creating just and loving relationships?
-One way I can continue his work is by participating in nonviolent demonstrations to fight for a greater good.
-Another way I could continue his work is by joining the United Farm Workers, an organization that he created.
