URBANIZATION

URBANIZATION:

• Becoming more like a city.
• When populations of people grow, the population of a place may transfer over from city to nearby areas.

WHY IS IT ENVIROMENTAL?

• The beginning of agriculture, began to change our land.
• The Industrial Revolution began to effect our atmosphere.
• The recent increase in the worlds population has magnified the effects of our agricultural & economic activities.

WASHINGTON D.C (1833)

• Before the city first settled, various tribes of the Algonquian speaking people inhabited the lands.
• Urbanization began in 1833.
• The city began to recover in 1871.

MANHATTAN, NEW YORK (1900)

• The area was inhabited by Lenape Native Americans in 1524.
• Manhattan was settled in 1624.
• In 1625, construction began in the city.
• The construction of the subway started in 1904.
• In 1900, Little Italy Manhattan was beginning urbanization.

DALLAS, TEXAS (1942)

• In the 18th century, the Caddo people inhabited the Dallas area.
• In the 19th century, the construction of railroads in Dallas began.
• In 1942, was when Dallas was starting Urbanization.

SEATTLE, WASHINGTON (2006)

• Native Americans have inhabited the Seattle area for at least 4,000 years.
• In 1851, large homes began to be located at the mouth of the Duwamish river.
• In 1884, the first "boom" began with the lumber industry.
• In 2006, Seattle bean Urbanization.

VANCOUVER, CANADA (2006)

• Vertical surfaces absorb the energy reflected from most of the 3 dimensional built up surface.

• Which promote, high heat release.

HEAT ISLAND

• An urban heat island is formed, when industrial in urban areas are developed resulting in greater production & retention of heat.

DEVELOPED VS. DEVELOPING COUNTRIES

• Developed countries are more urbanized, therefore they effect the environment more.
• So, the effect of the heat is being released.
