WHY DID G.WASHINGTON CHOOSE VALLEY FORGE

  • G.Washington choose Valley Forge because he could see General Howe's British army when they go to Philadelphia

VALLEY FORGE SHELTER

  • Everybody except for the officers slept in six foot square canvas
  • The canvasses weren't strong
  • Some officers slept in farmhouses or huts
  • During the winter some of the huts broke down

DATE STAYED

  • The Patriots got to Valley Forge on December 19, 1777

TRAINER OF CONTINENTAL ARMY

  • Friedrich Wilhelm Ludolf Gerhard Augustin also known as the Baron von Steuben volunteered as the trainer.

ADVANTAGE AT VALLEY FORGE

  • Valley Forge was near Philadelphia where the Continental Congress met
  • Valley Forge was a small valley so they would be more protected from the weather
