BALBOA WAS FROM THE COUNTRY OF SPAIN

YEARS OF TRAVEL

  • Vasco Núñez de Balboa traveled from the years of 1501 to 1513 across the Caribbean Ocean.

VASCO'S PLACES OF TRAVEL

  • When he left Spain in 1501, he arrived in the Gulf of Uraba, And followed the coast of Panama and went up to Santo Domingo in 1502, and in 1510 he went back to Panama and followed the Panama River and he spotted the Pacific on a mountain in Panama.

REASONS OF TRAVEL

  • To find the new ocean.
  • To find riches for themselves.
  • To claim the land and ocean as Spain's.

What Balboa achieved was finding the Pacific Ocean, naming it and claiming the Ocean and shores around Panama as Spain's.

INTERESTING FACTS

  • 1. On September 29th 1513, Balboa found the Ocean and claimed it and all its shored for Spain.

  • 2. The Spaniards call the Ocean the South Sea because it lay South.
  • 3. Balboa was the first European to see and claim it for Spain.
