VERTEBRAE


Definition of VERTEBRAE:

Any of the bones or cartilaginous segments forming the spinal column.

LUMBAR
The 5 vertebrae in the section of the lumbar spine are the biggest unfused vertebrae in the spinal column. (L1-L15) There for enabling it to support the weight of the entire torso.

THORACIC
The thoracic is referred to the upper and middle back. It goes down about 5 inches past the shoulder blades. (L1-L12) The rib cage is connected to each part of the thoracic and It provides stability holding the body upright and providing protection for the vital organs in the chest.

CERVICAL
the cervical part of the spine is very important because it protects the spinal cord. (C1-C7) the cervical is very flexible. It allows you to turn your head and neck.

THE FACET JOINT
the Facet joint is a small stabilizing joint located between and behind adjacent vertebrae.

INTERVERTEBRAL DISC
The Intervertebral disc provides a cushion between each of the vertebral bodies and binds them together
