PRESENTATION OUTLINE
Marcus Luttrell was a part of Operation Redwing which took place in 2005 to try to kill or capture Ahmad Shah, a Taliban Leader responsible for killing in Eastern Afghanistan.
The SEAL team was made of Marcus, Michael P. Murphy, Danny Dietz and Matthew Axelson. Mike was the leader, Danny was in charge of communications and Marcus and Matthew were they snipers for the team
The SEAL team was in the mountains when they encountered goat herders and they immediately took action and discussed the situation. Mike Murphy, the leader decided to let the guys go and keep hiking up hill, which soon led to disaster.
While they were hiking up the mountain, The Taliban were preparing to attack, and then they battle began. In the battle only one out of the four survived, and it was Marcus
Marcus was badly injured in the battle and some how managed to walk/crawl seven miles to evade capture. He was then saved by an Afghan tribe and brought back to there village, and they alerted the Americans that they had Marcus
Finally after six days, the Americans came and took Marcus to treat him for all of his wounds. Marcus has received the Navy Cross the Purple Heart for his actions in the battle
Recently Marcus has written two books, Lone Survivor and Service. He started a foundation called the Lone Survivor Foundation and is fully involved with The Boot Campaign.
It is important to celebrate our Veterans because they are the ones who fight for our country and who fight to keep our nation safe. I would like to thank all veterans for serving for our country.
