The first written records of veterinary medicine were found in ancient Egypt and India

1st attempts to practice veterinary medicine involved horses; farriers (horseshoe makers) practiced "horse doctoring" in the Middle Ages

Carlo Ruini's book Anatomy of the Horse (1598) was the 1st comprehensive anatomical book of an animal

1st veterinary college founded in Lyon, France in 1762 by Claude Bourgelat after an outbreak of cattle plague

In the US, the 1st veterinary schools were founded in the early 19th century in cities such as Boston, New York, & Philadelphia

My Goals:
Short term- to attend college at the University of Alabama and double major in dance and biology
Long term: undecided; possibly vet school or medical school
