PRESENTATION OUTLINE
5 FUN FACTS!
- The brain controls mating behavior.
- Reproductive hormones affects brain development and sexual behavior.
- New life begins when a male sex cell (sperm) fertilises a female egg (ovum) within the female reproductive system.
Untitled Slide
- The reproductive system or genital system is a system of sex organs.
- Many non-living substances such as fluids, hormones, and pheromones are also important accessories to the reproductive system

FUNCTIONS
- The purpose of the organs of the male reproductive system is to perform the following functions: To produce, maintain, and transport sperm the male reproductive cells and protective fluid semen. To discharge sperm within the female reproductive tract during sex.
FACTS
- The male sex organs work together to produce and release semen into the reproductive system of the female during sexual intercourse.
Untitled Slide
- During the first stage of male puberty, the scrotum and testes grow larger. Next, the penis becomes longer, and the seminal vesicles and prostate gland grow.
FEMALE REPRODUCTIVE SYSTEM
5 FUN FACTS
- A female can give birth to 35 babies in a lifetime.
- The functions of the female reproductive system are to produce egg cells.
- The reproductive system of the humans helps in the transfer of their unique characteristics through their genes.
- Female ovaries contain about 1-2 million eggs at birth, but only 300,000 ovaries make it to puberty.
Untitled Slide
- The vagina is a muscular, hollow tube that extends from the vaginal opening to the uterus.
- The lifespan of an ova is 12-24 hours after it is released from the ovary, while

FUNCTIONS
- It produces the female egg cells necessary for reproduction, called the ova or oocytes.
- The system is designed to transport the ova to the site of fertilization.
- Conception, the fertilization of an egg by a sperm, normally occurs in the fallopian tubes.
- The oocytes are then transported to the fallopian tube where fertilization by a sperm may occur.
FACTS !!
- In the human the female reproductive system is immature at birth and develops to maturity at puberty to be able to produce gametes, and to carry a foetus to full term.
- It's where the penis is inserted during sexual intercourse. It's the pathway that a baby takes out of a woman's body during childbirth, called the birth canal.
- It provides the route for the menstrual blood (the period) to leave the body from the uterus.
MALE AND FEMALE FACTS
- The male gamete, or sperm, and the female gamete, the egg or ovum, meet in the female's reproductive system.
- The female needs a male to fertilize her egg, even though it is she who carries offspring through pregnancy and childbirth.
- When the sperm fertilizes, or meets, the egg, this fertilized egg is called the zygote.
- The zygote goes through a process of becoming an embryo and developing into a fetus.
Untitled Slide
- Located between the legs, the vulva covers the opening to the vagina and other reproductive organs located inside the body.
- The external part of the female reproductive organs is called the vulva, which means covering.
- They are different in shape and structure, but both are specifically designed to produce, nourish, and transport either the egg or sperm.
