Operation Rolling Thunder

• It was the first operation where civilians protest.
• 643,000 tons of bombs were dropped on north Vietnam
• as part of the stragtic the bombing campaign known rolling thunder
• military aircrafts targeted north Vietnam, to weaken the Viet kong

Capt. Lance sijan

• while on a mission over Laos captain sijan was shot down
• he flew a F-4C phatom
• when he jumped out he broke half his bone and crawled in pain for 3 miles
• the Viet kong found them and tortured him so they could get secret out but he refused
• so they soldier put him in a cell with a man, when he woke, he said "when are we our out" then later he died from starvation

• the biggest battle in Vietnam war
• On March 30, 1972, the Army of North Vietnam (NVA) invaded South Vietnam
• The first was in I Corps where the us sent 30,000 troops streaming across the DMZ
• the ||| Corp was ambushed by Viet cong troop
• "The helicopter air crews, pilots, crew chiefs and door gunners were an integral team, sharing the same dangers and totally dependent on one another to complete the mission. Not enough"
