Woolf was born into a privileged english household with freethinking parents her father was a historian mother was a model and a nurse she had three full siblings and four half siblings she spent her summers in st. Ives a beach town at the southern tip of England she was light hearted and playful she was traumatized at the age of six when her half brothers George and Gerald Duckworth sexually abused her that dark place was only made deeper and more permanent when her mother suddenly died at the age of 49 the huge loss spun woolf into a nervous break down
Because of the connections her mother and father had she started to appreciate and experiment with the art of writing looks out at the dramatic porthminister bay and the view of the godrevy lighthouse inspired her writing
