PRESENTATION OUTLINE

STRUCTURE OF BACTERIA

  • Enclosed by a cell wall
  • Contains cytoplasm and hereditary material of the cell wall
  • Ribosomes are the only organelle found in the cytoplasm

STRUCTURE OF VIRUS

  • DNA or RNA
  • Surrounded by protective protein coat
  • Genetic material carries information for multiplication
  • Hijacks biochemical machinary if hot cell to carry out processes

TYPES OF VIRUS

  • DNA
  • RNA

TYPES OF BACTERIA

  • Bacillus
  • Vibrio
  • Spirillum
  • Spirochete
  • Coccus

HOW IT CAUSES INFECTION

  • Once the virus or bacteria enters the body, it must reproduce faster than the immune system can kill it
  • infection is caused by attaching and feeding off off the host cells by injecting nucleic acid into the cell

HOW IT REPRODUCES

  • Bacteria reproduces in 2 ways
  • Lytic cycle: Virus enters cell where the genes are changed to MRNA and translate into proteins so the virus reproduces
  • Lysogentic cycle: Enters the cell. It is genetic material that becomes incorporated into the genetic material of the host called prohage. The prophage is replicated and passed to daughter cell along with the virus DNA.
  • Bacteria reproduces when it has food. Then it reproduces.

COMMEN EXAMPLES OF DIFFERENT TYPES

  • Bacteria: Anthrax, Leprosy, Strep throat and tuberculosis.
  • Virus: chiken pox , small pox, ebola, Aids /Hiv.

HOW TO PREVENT OR TREAT

  • Getting vaccinations ortaking antibiotics builds your immune system so your immune system can kill it faster than it spreads

HOW IS IT GOOD

  • Soem bacteria can cause a stronger immune system and cause a faster production of enzymes to easily digest ceartain foods

HOW IS IT BAD

  • Can cause serious health problems
  • Malnurishment
  • Death
  • Time and money consuming
