the reeds arrive at independence, Missouri. it is calm, and so far the trip is pleasant. the girls enjoy some hats and gifts.

they soon start traveling along the prairie. food and water is still plentiful. there are no big struggles.

They have been crossing many rivers. The weather is getting damper and their grandmother got ill. there has been a emotional event in the Donner party. their grandma has just passed away. this journey is getting worse.

After crossing a few more rivers, The Donners and reeds arrive at Fort Laramie.it is now the 4th of july. everyone is excited for the festivities. Meanwhile the men are talking about the journey ahead.

they are on the move west once again. They are worried that the regular route will be too long. So they start talking about the Hastings Cutoff. Yet, Mrs. Donner disagrees with the idea of a unknown cutoff.

after leaving fort bridger they arrive at weber canyon. they find a letter informing them, that they can't go through Weber Canyon. They have to take a detour.

The journey is getting harder and harder. Once they make it over the salt lake valley they see a dreadful salt desert. Once crossing it they are hot and tired. Their livestock started giving out of exhaustion.

After stocking up by the truckee River, They arrived in the Sierra Mountain range. They are having a very hard time crossing through cold and snowy mountains.
