WHAT IS VISUAL POLLUTION
Visual pollution is the ruining of earths aesthetics.
Visual pollution can cause the destruction of a habitat.
Humans are the only organisms that cause visual pollution.

MEASURING VISUAL POLLUTION
There is really only one way to "measure" visual pollution.
The only way to measure visual pollution is to find out how many examples of visual pollution are in the area.
Visual pollution is worse when there are many signs in a smaller area.

EXAMPLES OF VISUAL POLLUTION
Examples of Visual Pollution are signs, billboards, skyscrapers, buildings, highways.
Graffiti can also be considered a form of visual pollution.
There has been a very rapid increase in the amount of buildings, and skyscrapers being built.
A very large example of visual pollution is landfills.

EFFECT OF VISUAL POLLUTION
The effects of visual pollution aren't all that bad for humans.
Visual pollution ruins the beauty of nature and cities.
Graffiti ruins the walls it is painted on.

OTHER PROBLEMS
Visual pollution can distract drivers as they drive down the highway.
Visual pollution in the form of graffiti is illegal and causes arrestes.
If an area has a very large amount of visual pollution tourists might not want to go there.

INDIVIDUAL SOLLUTIONS
There are forms of visual pollution that is on a small scale.
Reducing the amount of garbage you produce will lessen the amount of garbage in landfills.
Driving less reduces the amount of visual pollution caused by cars.

COMMUNITY SOLUTIONS
Communities can work together to reduce the amount of visual pollution in an area or city.
Communities can reduce the amount of signs in the area.
The city can start a recycling program that makes a huge dent in the landfills.
9.
NATIONAL SOLUTIONS
The government can pass laws that reduce the amount of billboards along highways.
In 2006 Brazil passed the Cidade Limpa, it outlawed the use of all outdoor advertisements, including on billboards, transit, and in front of stores.
The United States passed The Federal Highway Beautification Act of 1965, which limits billboards on Interstate highways and federally aided roads.
