Assess
DEFINITION: When you assess something, you estimate its value or ability
EXAMPLE: Jockeys assess the race track.
QUESTION: How do sports fans assess how well an athlete is performing? The sports fans assess how well an athlete is performing by how well they are catching, kicking and by how much they like the sport.

Compensate
DEFINITION: When you compensate for something that you lack, you make up for it.
EXAMPLE: You can compensate for not skis to go skiing.
QUESTION: How are the meanings of the of the words compensate and replace related? These words have the same meanings because when you compensate you make up for something that you lack, and if you lack a new I -pad, you can buy, or replace the old one. Therefore making up for the lack of a new I-pad and replacing it with a new one.

Deteriorated
DEFINITION: Something that has deteriorated has became worse, or inferior in condition, value, or character.
EXAMPLE: The road has been deteriorated from driving on it.
QUESTION: What is a synonym for deteriorated? A synonym for deteriorated would be worn out.

Devastating
Something that is devastating is overwhelming or destructive.
EXAMPLE: Hurricane Katrina was particularly devastating.
QUESTION: What other natural occurrences have devastating effects? Other natural effects include, hurricanes, hailstorms, tornadoes, tsunami.

Implement
DEFINITION: To implement a plan is to put it in effect or make it happen.
EXAMPLE: I can implement the new guidelines into the old guidelines from 2014.
