Definition- The layer under the crust.

Definition- The outermost layer of the earth.
Sentence- Earth's crust is what everyone walks on.
Continental Drift
Definition- The theory that every continent was combined into one.
Sentence- Continental drift states that every continent was once together.
Hydrologic Cycle
Definition- The cycle of water.
Sentence- The hydrologic cycle is the cycle of water.
Topography
Definition- A drawing showing the different levels of the land.
Sentence- Topography is the art of drawing surfaces from a top point of view.
Tectonic Plate
Definition- Plates that move around slowly.
Sentence- Tectonic plates shift different parts of the earth.
Seismograph
Definition- A device that measures the time of an earthquake.
Sentence- Scientists use seismographs to measure an earthquakes time.
Richter Scale
Definition- A scale to measure an earthquakes power.
Sentence- Scientists use the Richter scale to measure the power of an earthquake.
Ring of Fire
Definition- The place where most volcanoes are located.
Sentence- The ring of fire is where most volcanoes are located.
Weathering
Definition- The breaking down of materials.
Sentence- Weathering breaks down rocks.
Erosion
Definition- The forming of rocks.
Sentence- Most canyons are created by erosion.
Fault
Definition- The edges of the tectonic plates.
Sentence- A fault is the edge of a tectonic plate.
Drainage Basin
Definition- Land of an area that is drained by a river.
Sentence- A drainage basin is used to by rivers to keep them going.
Atmosphere
Definition- The outer part that surrounds the earth.
Sentence- The atmosphere is the layer that gives us oxygen.
Biosphere
Definition- Places on earth that a habitable by living organisms.
Sentence- Us humans live in the biosphere.
Lithosphere
Definition- The layer of earth underneath the crust.
Sentence- Lava comes from the lithosphere.
Hydrosphere
Definition- Everything that's water.
Sentence- Everything that has water like clouds, lakes, and rivers are included in the hydrosphere.
Loess
Definition- A loose sediment with extensive deposits.
Sentence- An example of loess is grained clay.
Humus
Definition- Dirt formed from dead leaves and plants.
Sentence- Humus would be great to grow crops in.
