  • What is a volcano? It is a hill that has an open hole where there is pressure that pushes magma up and out.

HOW A VOLCANO WORKS?

  • The manga chamber is the stomach of the volcano.The pressure from under pushes the magma up into the throat of the volcano.

WHY DOES A VOLCANO ERUPT?

  • Volcanoes erupt because density and pressure that rises like air bubbles in syrup. The magma pushes against the rocks causing the rocks to crack. There is still pressure which pushes to the cap of the volcano. This causes it to erupt.

WHERE DOES IT HAPPEN?

  • They occur around the tectonic plates. They don't occur often in Australia. There are only 1 to 2 per year worldwide. They are not very common.

  • Volcanoes erupt because of magma escaping from beneath the Earth's crust.
  • Volcanoes can be active, dormant, or extinct.
